Backpacking through Europe in 1994

Day 57 • November 2, 1994
Århus, Denmark

Thirty years ago today was a very good day as I got to spend it relaxing with my dear friend Pernille, who I had become very close with in Australia.

Thanks to modern technology and inventions we all take for granted now like email, Facebook and Zoom, the group of exchange student friends that I met in Australia in 1988 and 1989 are still connected today and speak to each other often. I know we always will stay connected because we share a magical bond that has only grown stronger throughout the decades.

Without a doubt, that magical bond which was forged Down Under in 1988 and still exists today in 2024 was certainly strengthened when I spent a few days with Pernille and her family in Denmark when I was backpacking through Europe in 1994!

A truly picturesque scene in Århus, Denmark.

DAY 57 / 11-02-94
Århus, denmark

Didn’t do a whole lot today. Slept in until noon, and while Pernille studied, I just read and watched TV. I get such a kick out of the American shows I am finding here. Today “Parker Lewis Can’t Lose” was on.

At 4 Pernille & I went for a walk. After eating she had to study with a friend so I found “Picket Fences” on TV.

After she was done we went to a bar for a drink, and when we returned we looked at more stuff from Down Under and she played her piano and sang.

That was about it, just a nice relaxing day.
