Backpacking through Europe in 1994
Day 60 • November 5, 1994
Århus, Denmark
Dear Friends,
The first thing I notice is how much has changed in 30 years when it comes to the number of pictures I take. I literally have four pictures from this day, November 5, 1994. I took one picture with Pernille’s parents - actually, I got everything set on my camera, the shutter speed and aperture and focus and flash power and handed it to her. Then I took three pictures at the party - two of girls dancing and one “creative” attempt at capturing my cigarette and drink. One frame didn’t turn out very good, so I have three photos to share with you from thirty years ago today.
Last night, by comparison, I took about 20 images of just of the sunset on my iPhone. I took more than 250 photos during the last week.
However, I think this is what makes THESE pictures so priceless to me.
Read below to see what I did thirty years ago on this day in Denmark!

DAY 60 / 11-05-94
Århus, Denmark
Nothing happened today until Pernille’s sister, Charlotte, picked us up at 2:30 to go to Galten and her parents’ house. Charlotte had just returned from a year in Cincinnati.
We busted out the slide projector and looked at all the slides from Down Under. It was so awesome to see the ones of the tour. God, we had fun. [A highlight of our year as exchange-students in Australia was a three-week bus trip “Tour around Australia” 30 or so exchange students took together.]
Then we watched another exciting episode of Beverly Hills 90210.
We stayed for dinner, and I really enjoyed Pernille’s family.
Then it was off to a party, where I met a very good-looking girl, Annette, who invited me to stay with her a day or two!
We came home, and I tried several times to call home, but there was no answer.
