A fish market in Århus, Denmark. In Nebraska I was used to seeing beef, but never fish, especially like this, in meat section of the store. And the fact that it was in the front window of store made this scene unique to me, along with the ubiquitous bicycle parked outside the store.

Today was pretty low key. I slept in until 1:00 and spend the afternoon taking pictures..

Gitte & I watched a movie called “La Grand Bleu.” More than anything, watching this movie made me want to be home with MY VCR and MY MOVIES and MY TV and MY STEREO.

Peter & Annie, Gitte’s brother & girlfriend, came over for dinner.

Then we looked at my pictures, and spent the next 3-4 hours telling more stories and jokes.

“Le Grand Blue” / The Big Blue (released in some countries under the French title Le Grand Bleu) is a 1988 drama film directed by Luc Besson. Inspired by the Cinéma du look movement, the film is a heavily fictionalized and dramatized story of the friendship and sporting rivalry between two leading contemporary champion free divers in the 20th century: Jacques Mayol (played by Jean-Marc Barr) and Enzo Maiorca (renamed "Enzo Molinari" and played by Jean Reno), and Mayol's fictionalized relationship with his girlfriend Johana Baker (played by Rosanna Arquette).
The film became one of France's most commercially successful films. French President Jacques Chirac referred to the film in describing Mayol, after his death in 2001, as an enduring symbol for the "Big Blue" generation.
